Information Regarding Admission to class VI for Session 2008 |
Boys are admitted to class VI only. The first phase Admission Test will be held on last week of December 2008 simultaneously at the following allocated examination centres:- Asansol, Agartala, Bangladesh (Dhaka, Dinajpur), Chapra, Bokaro, Patna, Siliguri, Kolkata, New Delhi, Deoghar, Guwahati, Imphal, Itanagar, Jamshedpur, and Ranchi. The venue and time of examination will be given on the Admit Card.
The Prospectus and Application Forms are available by hand from Vidyapith Book-sales counter from 1st May, 2008, from 09.00 am to 11.30 am and 3.00 pm to 4.30 pm.
General norms regarding eligibility for admission are as follows:
Selection will be cancelled for any irregularity in the application form (including the health report). Suppression of facts may lead to the removal of the boy at any time even after admission is granted. Anomaly in date of birth and declared height may lead to non-selection of the boy.
The admission test will be conducted in two phases - Screening and Final. The screening result will be released within 15 days of the test. Only boys qualifying in the Screening Test will be called to Deoghar for the Final Test sometime in January, 2009. However, in centers outside Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal both the tests will be conducted on Last week of December 2008. Results of candidates not selected for and after the final test will not be communicated to guardians of the boys.
The screening test will be of 3 hours duration, including seating, verification, 2 hours written exam and collection of answer scripts etc. Candidates will enter the exam venue with admit card and ball point pen at the time and test centre specified in the admit card. On the basis of merit of the candidate's performance in the written test, he will be invited for viva voce and medical tests etc in January 2008. While finally selecting candidates for admission, care is taken that cultural harmony and spirit of National Integration are kept up along with academic excellence. New boys will join towards end of March, 2008.
SYLLABUS AND PREPARATION The syllabus for admission test in respect of class VI cover topics taught in classes V according to NCERT. A good textbook, preferably by NCERT will serve the purpose of preparations in Mathematics, Basic Science and English. Questions in mathematics and basic science will test the student's understanding of the fundamentals at their level. Therefore, the candidates should have a good grasp of the basic concepts. For English and Vernacular, knowledge of basic grammar, vocabulary, spelling, comprehension of given passages, essay writing and expression may be tested. Sample question papers are not supplied. For practice, boys may use workbooks, which are readily available from booksellers.
Guardians are expected to accompany their ward during the final test. They will be required to produce the original documents. There will be written, oral and medical tests during the final tests. Boys will be tested mainly for their general intelligence, expression, personal interview and personality. There is no syllabus for it but the questions will be in conformity with age and class. Selected candidates will be informed by both ordinary and registered posts within a month of the final test.
CONCESSIONS: There are a limited number of concessions available in five categories. Only needy guardians may opt for any of these categories. As no change in concession category will be permitted once the application form is accepted by the office, guardians are cautioned not to ask concession unnecessarily since the scope of admission will get limited.

There is no provision for accommodation in the Vidyapith at the time of admission test. We have no direct or indirect connection with any tutor or tutorial home regarding admission. Guardians are cautioned against mushrooming growth of schools/tutorial homes in the name of Sri Ramakrishna and Swami Vivekananda. We do not encourage association of the candidates with any such coaching Institute formally or informally. Ramakrishna Mission does not have any other residential school in Jharkhand & Bihar.
