Information Regarding Admission to class VI for Session 2011

Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith, Deoghar, Jharkhand, established in 1922 is an Ashrama centre of the Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math. It imparts the Man Making, Character Building education of Swami Vivekananda. It is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi and runs a residential English medium senior secondary school for boys from class VI to class XII. Any guardian having faith in the educational philosophy of Swami Vivekananda and the ideology of the Ramakrishna Order may apply for his ward's admission. Boys from all cross sections of society, irrespective of caste, creed, religion, nationality are admitted in class VI only.

Prospectus etc

The Prospectus and Application Forms are available at the Vidyapith Book-sales counter from 10th May, 2010, during 9.00 am and 12.00 noon as well as during 3.00 pm and 5.30 pm everyday, against a fee of Rs. 500/-. Application forms are also available by registered post, remitting a sum of Rs. 550/- by Demand Draft drawn on any bank payable at Deoghar in favour of Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith. Money Orders are not accepted.

Last date:


  • The last date of availability of Application Forms is 31st October, 2010. However, Forms are still available after 31st October on payment of a late fee of Rs. 100/- till 15th November, and subsequently Rs.150/- from 16th November till 30th November 2010. The last date of availability of Application Forms by post is 15th November, 2010. No forms will be issued by post thereafter.

  • The duly filled-in forms may be deposited by hand at the Vidyapith Central Office during the abovementioned hours (as indicated in the column 2) or sent by registered post so as to reach latest by 30th November 2010. The guardians are requested to submit the duly completed forms at the earliest, in order to facilitate timely processing and issue of the Admit Cards.

Admit Card:

The Admit cards will be issued by November 2010. If an admit card does not reach a candidate by 6th December, 2010, he may make enquiries providing the necessary information, either in person or over the phone. Incomplete forms are not entertained and Admit Cards against them are not, accordingly, issued.

 

Cancellation:

Selection is liable to be cancelled if any irregularity is found (including the health report) in the application form. Suppression of facts may lead to the removal of the boy at any time, even after his admission. Anomaly in the date of birth and in the declared height may result the non-selection of the boy.

Admission Test:

A) The first phase :

The first phase of the Admission Test will be carried out on Sunday, the 19th December 2010 simultaneously at the allotted examination centres in Asansol, Jalpaiguri, Kolkata, Malda, Chapra, Patna, Deoghar, Jamshedpur, Ranchi, Agartala, Bangladesh (Dhaka & Dinajpur), Guwahati, Imphal, Itangar and New Delhi. The venue and the time of examination will be given in the Admit Card.


A written test of 3 hours duration (including seating, verification, 2 hours written exam and collection of answer scripts etc) will be conducted in this phase. Candidates will enter the examination halls with admit cards and ball point pens at the time and test centres specified in their admit cards. The list of the successful candidates of this written test will be released within 15 days.

Second & Final Phase:

The qualified candidates of the above written test will appear in another short test before they finally appear the Oral Test on the same day at the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyapith Deoghar sometime in January, 2011. However, in centres outside Jharkhand, Bihar, and West Bengal both the tests (of First and Second phases) will be conducted on Sunday, the 19th December, 2010. The results of the non-qualified candidates in either of the tests will not be communicated.


Medical Test:

The medical test etc. of each candidate qualified for the Second & the Final phase of Test will be conducted on the day of the second and Final Test. An attention also will be given to see whether the candidates have any aptitude for cultural harmony and national integration. The new boys will join the school and hostels sometime at the end of March 2011.


Syllabus for Preparation:

The syllabus for admission test in respect of class VI covers topics taught in class V according to CBSE course. Textbooks of NCERT may be, therefore, helpful for the preparation. Questions in Mathematics and Basic Science will examine the students’ understanding of the fundamentals at their level. Hence, candidates should have a good grasp on the basic concepts. For English and Vernacular, knowledge of basic grammar, vocabulary, spelling, comprehension of given passages, essay writing and expression will be examined. Sample question papers are not provided.


Instruction to guardians:

Guardians are to accompany their wards during the final test. They will be required to produce the original documents. Their wards will be tested mainly for general intelligence, expression and personality in the Second & Final Test. There is no syllabus for it but the questions will be in conformity with their age and standard. Finally selected candidates will be informed by both ordinary and registered posts within a month following the Admission Test.


No accommodation in the Vidyapith campus will be provided during the tests. Guardians are cautioned against mushrooming growth of schools/tutorial homes. Association of the candidates with any such Coaching Institution is discouraged. Ramakrishna Mission has no other residential school like Vidyapith anywhere in Jharkhand & Bihar.
